SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
August 21, 2026

Dear Cucamonga School District Families,

What a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year! We welcomed our students back on August 6, and it was exciting to see our schools come alive with the energy and enthusiasm of a new school year.

Our elementary schools kicked off the year with Back-to-School Night on the very first day of school. It was wonderful to see so many parents and families on campus and engaged in their children’s education right from the start. Thank you to our elementary families for your enthusiastic participation and continued support. Your partnership is an important part of creating a positive and successful school experience for our students.

On Tuesday, August 18, Rancho Cucamonga Middle School welcomed families for Back-to-School Night. It was another wonderful opportunity for parents to meet teachers, learn more about the year ahead, and connect with their students’ school community. We greatly appreciate the strong participation and support from our middle school families.

We are truly kicking off the school year to a great start! I am incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, and families for the enthusiasm, commitment, and sense of community they have already demonstrated.

Thank you for helping make the beginning of this school year such a positive one. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together as we continue to make this a year of learning, growth, and success for every student.

Take care,

Micheal Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Los Amigos Elementary School
By Principal Amber Arreguin

What an incredible start to the school year! Our hallways are buzzing with energy, big smiles, and the excitement of fresh beginnings.

Back to School Night Success: Thank you to everyone who joined us for Back to School Night! It was wonderful seeing our community come together. Families filled the auditorium for the principal and classroom presentations, sampled delicious bites from local food trucks, and connected with fantastic community vendors. Plenty of families beat the rush by securing their yearbook sales and stocking up on fresh school spirit wear!

Spirit Days & Campus Highlights

  • Friday Spirit Days: Students and staff are rocking their spirit wear every Friday—the school pride is off the charts!
  • Community Connections: Our School Resource Officer stopped by for friendly visits, building great relationships with our students.
  • Specialist Spotlights:
    • Library: Ms. Haro kicked off cozy read-alouds and guided book selections.
    • Music: Mr. Allen has students tuning in and making noise in the best way possible.
    • PE: Coach James got everyone moving with high-energy games and teamwork activities.

Setting the Stage for Success: All grade levels attended our start-of-year discipline and expectation assemblies to learn how to keep our campus safe and supportive. In the classroom, teachers are hard at work building strong foundations. They are reviewing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) expectations and collaborating with students to build Capturing Kids’ Hearts Social Contracts, ensuring every child feels valued and ready to learn.

Here’s to an amazing year ahead!
