Student Transportation Pilot Program

Q: What is the minimum distance from school to qualify for bus transportation? 

A: Students must live 1.4 miles or more away from the school to qualify for bussing. 

 

Q: How is the distance to my student’s school calculated if I live in an apartment complex with multiple buildings? 

A: The distance is measured from the apartment complex’s front office. If it’s 1.4 miles or more from the school, your student may qualify for bus transportation. 

 

Q: What happens if my student gets suspended from the bus? 

A: Parents/ guardians must arrange transportation for the student until bus privileges are reinstated. 

 

Q: What time will the bus pick up and drop off students? 

A: Pickup and drop-off times are based on the school’s bell schedule and will be determined accordingly. 

 

Q: Is there bus service on minimum days? 

A: Yes, bus service is available on minimum days. 

 

Q: What happens is my student misses the bus? 

A: Parent/guardian will then be responsible for transporting the student to school. 

 

Q: What happens if the bus is late? Will my student be marked tardy? 

A: No, the school will be notified to ensure students are not marked tardy because of bus delays. 

 

Q: Can my student ride the bus on way, or do they have to ride both ways? 

A: Students can ride one way. Eligible students may use the bus either the ride to school, the ride home, or both. 

 

Q: If my student attends an after-school program such as “Think Together”, can they take the bus home? 

A: No, this pilot program only covers regular school hours. It does not include transportation for after-school programs such as “Think Together” or other extracurricular activities. 

 

Q: How will bus riders be identified? 

A: Eligible students will receive a bus pass issued by the district. Only students with a bus pass will be allowed to ride. 

Q: How will my students receive their bus pass? 

A: Bus passes can be picked up at the school’s front office. 

 

Q: What is the fee to replace a lost bus pass? 

A: The replacement fee is $5. 

 

Q: What happens if they forget their bus pass? 

A: To be determined (TBD) 

 

Q: What grade must students be in order to ride the bus? 

A: Students in grades K-8 are eligible to ride the bus if the meet eligibility requirements. 

 

Q: Will bus service be offered next year? 

A: It will depend on the results of this pilot program and it’s impact on attendance improvements. 

 

Q: Is the bus service free? 

A: Yes, it is free for eligible students. 

 

Q: Can my student, who is on an intra-district transfer be bussed to school? 

A: No, as this transfer is voluntary, parents are responsible for transporting the student to school. 

 

Q: If my student is on an intra-district transfer and I move them back to their home school, can they be bussed to school? 

A: Yes, as long as the student lives more than 1.4 miles from the home school and meets the eligibility requirements for transportation. 

 

Q: How do I apply for bus transportation?
