SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
1/30/2026

Dear CSD Parents,

This February, our district is honored to celebrate Black History Month. This month serves as a dedicated time to recognize the monumental contributions, resilient spirit, and enduring legacy of African Americans throughout history.

While we integrate diverse perspectives into our curriculum year-round, February offers a special opportunity for our students to dive deeper into the stories of pioneers who have shaped our world, from the scientists who propelled us into space to the artists who redefined American culture.

By celebrating the achievements of Black Americans, we aim to:

  • Inspire Excellence: Show students that greatness can be achieved despite significant obstacles.
  • Cultivate Inclusion: Ensure every student feels a sense of belonging and sees their heritage reflected in their education.
  • Encourage Critical Thinking: Examine history through multiple lenses to build a more complete understanding of our nation.

We are proud to embark on this month of reflection and joy with your children. Thank you for being part of a community that values history, honors progress, and looks forward to a bright, unified future.

Take care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

Celebrating Learning and Positive Choices in Our School Community

This week, our school hosted a History Day Fair. Students dove into researching important historical events and influential figures, showcasing their learning through thoughtful and creative displays for our school community to enjoy. We were excited to welcome families of participating students to view the projects and celebrate their hard work. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Peterman, Ms. Martinez, and Mrs. Terrones for supporting our students and helping make this enriching experience possible.

We also wrapped up the month with another joyful ROAR Rally! Throughout each month, teachers select students who exemplify our ROAR expectations—being Responsible, Organized, and Respectful. These students are recognized at a whole-school rally, where families are invited to join us in celebrating their positive choices. As an added highlight, recognized students had the opportunity to shop at our Dragon Store. We are so proud of our Dragons for continuing to ROAR every day!
