Dear Cucamonga SD Families:

This week, I had the pleasure of spending time at RCMS — not just visiting classrooms, but actually stepping in as a guest teacher in the art room! I had a great time teaching middle school art, where students were working on different perspectives in their artwork, including bird’s eye views of cities. Their creativity and focus were impressive. Mr. Preciado had everything prepared for a smooth lesson, and his student teacher, Mr. Vo, was a tremendous support. The students were respectful, engaged, and eager to share their ideas — it was truly a highlight of my week.

I also had the opportunity to walk the campus and see learning in action across many classrooms — and I left feeling inspired. Everywhere I turned, I saw students deeply engaged in learning, creativity, and collaboration — true reflections of the Lion spirit.

A few highlights from my visit:

  • Theater students performed favorite songs with choreography — so much talent and energy!
  • Classrooms were full of focused learning, from writing and iReady to math, science, and social studies discussions.
  • A 3D-printed lion was a standout symbol of RCMS creativity.
  • In PE, students showed great effort during their mile run.

The RCMS Lions were roaring this week — with creativity, critical thinking, and excellence on full display. I’m so grateful to our amazing staff and students for making this such a meaningful and energizing visit.

Take care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.
Superintendent

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Rancho Cucamonga Middle School

By Principal Bobby Collins

After the Bell

Academics are a very important focus of the work we do here at RCMS. Of course, we take great pride in the academic success we see our students making each day. However, sometimes the things that set us apart and really define the RCMS experience are the things that happen after school is out for the day. Over the past month, we have seen several examples of this.

First, our volleyball season has been one for the books! The RCMS team remained undefeated throughout the whole season, besting both Cucamonga Middle and Ruth Musser Middle at each meeting. Congratulations to our team of athletes on their hard work, dedication, and commitment to both great skill and great sportsmanship. We are very proud of you!

Secondly, our after school programs have started. Student favorites, such as the gardening club and drama club, are continuing to thrive. Students are also taking part in clubs new this year, like crocheting and ceramics. Students really love taking part in such diverse and exciting activities each week. Special thanks to our teachers for crafting such great classes!

Finally, I had the chance to get a sneak peak at a test recording for our new school news program, “The Roar Report”, led by our theatre teacher, Mr. Wuertz. Our anchors are quite the dynamic duo! Be on the lookout for the first episode coming soon.
