Dear Cucamonga School District Families,

As we move through this month of March, we’re excited to share some of the wonderful experiences our students, staff, and community have been enjoying! It’s been an eventful week full of engaging activities that highlight the creativity, talent, and spirit of our district. Here are some of the highlights:

Read Across America at THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL for their extended "Read Across America" celebration. Our staff and students were able to come together and read some of their favorite books to students. It was such a joy to see everyone so excited about the importance of reading and literacy! These kinds of events are a great way to encourage a love for books in our young learners, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.

Los Amigos Elementary School Walk Through California Event

I also had the privilege of visiting Los Amigos Elementary School for their amazing "Walk Through California Event." This event was a vibrant and educational celebration of our state’s history, culture, and geography. Students had the chance to learn about California’s rich heritage through interactive exhibits, and it was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm and curiosity on their faces. A big thank you to the Los Amigos team for organizing such a fantastic experience for our students!

Reading Fair Success & Recognition at Cucamonga Elementary

Last night, we celebrated the incredible work of our students at the Reading Fair. The finalists from each grade level were recognized during the Board Meeting at Cucamonga Elementary School, and it was heartwarming to see the hard work of these students acknowledged. Their passion for reading and their commitment to learning is something we are so proud of. Congratulations to all of our finalists and participants – your dedication is truly inspiring!

As always, thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and incredible students for making these events possible. We are proud of everything we’ve accomplished together and look forward to more exciting moments in the weeks ahead!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Take Care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Rancho Cucamonga Middle School

By Principal, Bobby Collins

March is humming along at RCMS, and students have been very busy both on and off campus. First, we are knee-deep into high school prep season. High school counselors and student teams have been visiting our campus, talking about their programming, and giving students enrollment paperwork. Our students have also had the opportunity to visit Rancho Cucamonga High, Chaffey High, Alta Loma High, and Colony High. These visits are always super exciting. Not only can our students get a feel for the campus vibe, but they also get to see some great performances by different teams on campus and meet school administrators. Extra bonus - the RCMS chaperones get to say hi to former students and see how they are flourishing in high school.

I am also so appreciative of Mrs. Escamilla and Ms. Sanchez for spearheading our Boys Day celebration last Friday. This is a fun, engaging event for our 8th grade boys that gives them the opportunity to build community, connect with each other, and gain some inspiration from some of the male members of our staff. The event was very successful, and featured the insights and wisdom from Mr. Preciado, Mr. English, and Mr. Maynor. Special thanks to them for their efforts and the impact they make on our students.

Finally, RCMS just finished its “Step-it-Up” fundraiser. Thanks to all the families and friends who pitched in to support the work we are doing at RCMS. It’s going to make a big difference in the programs and materials that we can provide to our students, families, and staff members. From the bottom my heart, THANK YOU!
